POLISH LINE CHERIFA
CHERIFA bay of the Chouimi-Sebaye line was born in Syria in 1869 and was imported by the Equestrian Establishments of Algeria around 1875 and died there in 1878. GUENINA bay, her sixth generation descendant, was born in Tiaret in Algeria in 1924 and was imported into France by the Denys-Rey family. In 1930, GUENINA, his son of the year FELLEL and his one year old daughter BAD 1929 by DIAB, will be sold in Poland to the stud farm of Snopkow. It is ADB that will establish the line of CHERIFA in Poland.
BAD will give to the breeding two products of importance: first his daughter ZMORA 1937 by CAID and then his son BAD AFAS 1940 which extended the line of his father KUHAILAN AFAS. He is notably the grandfather of the illustrious COMET.
The ZMORA bay born in the private stud farm of Zabawa in 1937 will give only one daughter before being lost in the ravages of the second world war. It is ELEONORA by WITRAZ who alone will perpetuate the lineage after the war. Witness to the Polish breeding of the immediate post-war period, she was transferred three times from a stud farm to finally be integrated, like all her offspring, into the stud farm of Janów Podlaski, who is now the custodian of this lineage. His progeny was of great quality. On the one hand, she gave three breeding stallions, EL TRIPOLI 1957 by TRYPOLIS, used in Michalów, EMIR SAID 1952 by ALI SAID, sold to Erik Erlandsson in Sweden and finally Swedish and European champion EXELSJOR 1963 by AQUINOR sold to Blommeröd in Sweden and whose precious blood will return to Poland through his grandson PROBAT. On the other hand, ELEONORA left several quality girls who established branches of the lineage: ELWIRENA 1954 and ELLENAI 1956 by WIELKY SLEM, ELKA 1960 by FAHER and ELIPSA 1962 by PIETUSZOK.
The bay ELWIRENA will give COMET one of his most beautiful girls, ENGRACJA 1960, before being sold to Blommeröd. ENGRACJA produced 4 breeding stallions including the European champion ENGANO 1970 by ELEUZIS, inbred on the line CHERIFA, and the influential ERNAL 1975 by PALAS. Among her daughters are ENORA by CZORT who will produce the 1975 ENOS Poland champion by BANDOS, and the ENERGIA 1972 sisters and the 1974 ENKLAWA European champion by BANDOS. The branch of ELWIRENA is no longer active in Janów.
The great ELLENAI, like her elder sister, donated 4 breeding stallions to the breeding: 3 own brothers by AQUINOR, the European champion and national champion of Canada ELEUZIS 1962, the father of champions ELF 1963, and the national champion Of the United States ELKIN 1966, as well as the winner of the Derby ELBRUS 1965 by MIR SAID, himself father of race champions. Unfortunately, her daughters, whose most influential was EL KREA 1971 by KREZUS, have not perpetuated her family until today.
It is probably via ELKA that the line of CHERIFA will continue in Janow, and more precisely via his daughter ELEKTRODA 1977 by ENGANO, and his black granddaughter ELFINA 1994 by PAMIR. Three ELFINA daughters were raised in Janów, including the Janów Autumn Show champion EFUZJA 2001 by EMIGRANT, and the black EL FATHA 1999 by ENTYK, with no less than five crosses on the line of CHERIFA in its pedigree . EL FATHA is the mother of the EL AZEM 2004 junior champion by GAZAL AL SHAQAB.
Finally, ELIPSA, the last daughter of ELEONORA, established a branch of which only two representatives were still part of the livestock of Janów in 2008, namely ELESTORA 1990 by EUROPEJCZYK and granddaughter ELEUSA 2006 by PIAFF and ELEBI.
This female line of CHERIFA, of which Janów's stud is the only custodian, has always been and remains little represented in the Polish livestock, but surprisingly; She gave to Polish and international breeding an impressive number of breeding stallions, some of which were most influential. These include BAD AFAS, ELEUZIS, ELF, ELKIN, EL TRIPOLI, ENGANO, ENOS, ENTYK, ERNAL and EXELSJOR.
Let us hope that the future of the young EL AZEM and his brother ELSYNOR by HS ETIQUETTE will be as brilliant as that of their elders.
End of lineage Future to come
